hello.. my name is sam.
i would firstly like to say that i am not a jehovah witness, and i hope that being on this forum without being in the religion will not offend anyone.
i am only 16 years of age, however i am interested in the religion of jevohav witness due to my girl friend.
Hi Sam. You're very welcome here, whatever your religion or lack thereof. Stick around for some more welcoming and helpful replies. Sorry I haven't got any good advice for you.

reading hellriders topic made me wonder about this.. i waited till i was 21 because i was drinking alcohol as a youth and didn't want to get baptized while breaking the law.
man that is screwed up, seemed reasonable at the time.
17. I was extremely reluctant but couldn't explain why. Lots of doubts and unanswered questions I had learned to stop expressing and tried to stuff down inside.

anyway i have re-registered and am glad to be back here with you all again!.
Howdy! I'm not a newbie either. I'm actually an emperoress. I, too, had a problem with logging in (my own fault) and decided the easiest way to deal was to start a new account. We can be non-newbies together.

i thought i was reading one my sales manuals from work.
so much of what the watchtower does is right out of any companies sales training manuals.. oc
I found it interesting, when researching the connection between Judge Rutherford and Bonnie Boyd Heath (who married a former Coca Cola "salesman") to note the similarities between the preaching methods advocated by the Society and those of Coca Cola. I have wondered if Coca Cola salesmanship influenced the development of the colporteur work under Rutherford.
~MerryThe sales force was of critical importance in achieving national distribution for Coca-Cola. Coca-Cola under Candler relied heavily on a personal, face-to-face selling approach. Although there are other ways to reach the customer-such as mass-media or direct-mall advertising- personal selling has the advantages of high impact on the customer and flexibility. The salesperson can tailor the message to the individual customer, answering questions and responding to objections. At Coca-Cola, management worked to maximize sales force performance in such subtle exchanges. "Sales demonstrations can be staged," explained a Coca-Cola vice-president at a 1923 bottler convention, "one salesman taking the part of a merchant and the other taking the part of a salesman. Questions can be asked, ideas can be brought out, and a general discussion of territories can be gone into."-- http://www.businessweek.com/chapter/tedlow.htm
so... i just got the passion.. and i haven't watched it yet.. but going to.
what does everyone think about it ?
I am wondering...once you get a good look, will you be able to ignore the reality of those who have suffered harm as JWs and ex-JWs? and the information exposing the Watchtower's false teachings and dishonesty, in favour of the sugar-coated experience offered by JWs to all newcomers? I know what they offer is attractive to many--the bright hope of the all-you-can-eat-forever paradise buffet; the pre-chewed, pre-digested, "let us do all the thinking for you" spiritual food; the close-knit, loving, betray-your-friends-and-family at the drop of a hat association.
Please do keep looking at this thing from all sides, and do pray for God's light. Whether you like it or not, you will have to think for yourself in deciding whether or not to accept something you are being taught as God's truth or man's truth. Someone's just saying they are teaching God's truth doesn't make it so. So you will have to be discriminating in what you will accept, or else just accept whatever. The consequences will be yours, and possibly your childrens' some ways down the line.
As to The Passion of the Christ, I found it to be very intense, with a few very stand-out moments, that triggered some interesting thought processes. Have you seen The Last Temptation of Christ yet? Or The Gospel of John? They are profound in their own ways as well.
